1. Green votes count
Greens have been elected to the European Parliament, the Scottish Parliament, the Greater London Assembly, and over 100 local council seats throughout the country. Even if voting Green does not elect a Green representative, it sends a signal to the other Parties that people want Green Party policies. One thing is certain, if you don't vote for what you want, you're never going to get it.
2. Elected Greens are making a vital difference
Elected Greens are bringing fresh and innovative ideas to government at all levels. Unlike the other main parties, the Green Party is not in the pocket of big business. We put people, the planet and local communities before profit and the interests of large corporations.
3. The Green Party is committed to defending and improving public services
Greens want high quality local services - like libraries, hospitals, nurseries, schools, colleges, post offices, and advice services. We stand for proper public funding and oppose cuts and privatisation.
4. The Green Party is the only party to oppose globalisation
and to actively promote an alternative - more support for local provision of goods and service. We stand for proper public funding and oppose cuts and privatisation.
5. The Green Party is campaigning for peace
not arming for war. We do not want the EU Army currently being considered, nor nuclear weapons. Secure global peace can only be achieved by working towards a fairer world, where resources are shared more equally and rights are respected. It will not come about by supporting aggressive US foreign policy and ignoring the views of the rest of the international community.
6. The Green Party is opposed to genetically modified food
the potential harm to the environment is just not worth the risk. We oppose the blanket use of chemical pesticides and fertilisers which are killing off wildlife and native plants - and poisoning our bodies, causing cancers and immune system disorders. We are campaigning instead to win much greater support for organic farming.
7. The Green Party is promoting public transport and traffic reduction
Two recent Road Traffic Reduction Acts - drawn up by the Green Party require Local Authorities to reduce traffic in their areas. Elected Greens will ensure this happens, as well as improving public transport and facilities for cyclists and pedestrians.
8. The Green Party is tackling climate change and pushing to end nuclear power
The risk of contamination from nuclear waste and accidents is unacceptable. We need safe, clean, renewable energy production, far greater investment in rail freight and full implementation of the Home Energy Conservation Act - which was drafted by the Green Party. This will make huge energy savings, cutting fuel bills, greenhouse gases and pollution. Greens oppose airport expansion and aviation subsidies which contribute massively to climate change.
9. The Green Party is campaigning for animal rights
Millions of animals experience horrendous pain and suffering through factory farming, live exports, vivisection, hunting, the fur trade and circuses. Greens are working to end these cruel practices.
10. Green politics is about a positive vision for the future
Voting Green shows that you care about the sort of world we pass on to future generations. Use your vote - Green votes count
