Simon was born and bred in Chatham, growing up in Luton and attending Walderslade School for Boys and Mid Kent College. Simon now lives in Gillingham and is a house husband. Simon has stood for local election in Medway and, as well as being the candidate for Rochester and Strood, is press officer for Medway Green Party. He is active in local campaigning and is a member of Kingsnorth Climate Action Medway and of the Medway Waste forum. He also supports many charities including the Woodland Trust, Soil Association, RSPB and Ethical Consumer.
Simon is very knowledgeable about the science and technical aspects of modern living, and because of this knowledge is opposed to nuclear power and extremely concerned that nowhere near enough is being done to tackle climate change. He is also opposed to the degradation of our civil liberties and rights to anonymity and privacy and is against ID cards and biometric passports as he believes they do not enhance security but merely catalogue people.
