ASHFORD GREEN CANDIDATES FOR THE COUNTY COUNCIL7th April 2005Ashford Green Party is fielding 5 candidates in Ashford area County divisions on Thursday 5th May. They are: Marilyn Sansom Ashford Central: Marilyn lives in Old Wives Lees and has stood previously for the Green Party in the Canterbury area, on many occasions. She is a professional cellist and also teaches the Cello. Marilyn is a keen supporter of organic agriculture and farmers' markets. Dr Hazel Dawe Ashford South: Hazel lives in central Ashford and is Kent Green Party's Campaigns Officer. Hazel is a Senior Lecturer in Law and one of Kent's most experienced Green campaigners. Steve Dawe Ashford East: Steve Dawe lives with his wife Hazel in central Ashford and previously stood in the April 2004 by-election for the former Ashford South East County division: the previous name of Ashford East before boundary changes. Steve teaches three social science courses in Higher Education and works part-time as Kent Green Party's Press Officer. Hilary Jones Ashford Rural West: Hilary Jones, from Egerton, works both on her organic farm and as a Psychiatrist helping young people. A familiar figure with partner Ben at the Egerton Farmers' Market, Hilary is very much concerned about the rural economy and how small farms and small holdings can be maintained as part of rural life. Sharon Harvey Ashford Rural East: Sharon, Chair of Ashford Green Party, was a long-term resident of Hastingleigh and recently moved to central Ashford. She has worked all over the world as a consultant on rural development and was a Tutor on Rural Development at Wye College, before becoming a civil servant in the Department for International Development.
