PHOTO/TV OPPORTUNITY On Friday 21st May the Green Party's distinctive double decker campaign bus hits the road, taking the party's prospective Euro-MPs for the South East of England out and about in the run up to elections on June 10th. The bus will set off from Botley Road, Oxford at 10am 21st May. The bus is one of those that drove 'human shields' to Iraq at the beginning of the war last year. This time round the specially decorated bus will take part in less risky campaigning. Dr Caroline Lucas, who is defending her seat as a Member of the European Parliament, said: "Taking our distinctive bus on the road is a fantastic opportunity to hear concerns of people around the South East, and to be inspired by them. It also gives us Green Party candidates the chance to get out there and talk about how we believe we can really make a difference." The Bus will reach Wye near Ashford on Thursday 27th May arriving 3pm. Richard Boden, of yecycle, will present the Bus driver with more biodiesel at the Bramble Lane Industrial estate next to Wye railway station. The bus will then continue to Canterbury, arriving about 5pm at "The Goods Shed" in Station Road West next to Canterbury West Station. On 28th May the Bus will be in Maidstone, followed by visits to Chatham and Gillingham. On Saturday 29th, the Bus will visit Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells (details by ringing Melanie Jarman, as below). The bus will be powered by biodiesel, a fuel that has recycled vegetable oil as a main component, meaning reduced air pollutants such as the gases that contribute to climate change. Caroline Lucas points out: "Our biodiesel-powered bus is just one illustration that steps for a healthier environment are not just badly needed - they are also entirely possible.
