| Kent Green Party -Local Election Results 2007 | ||
Kent Green Party fielded 38 candidates in the 2007 local elections. The average percentage vote overall achieved was about 12.5%. This compares with about 6.5% achieved throughout the South East in the last European Elections in 2004. Meaningful comparisons in the same seats contested in 2003 are made difficult by the reduction in both Labour and Lib Dem candidates in 2007. In 2003, with some exceptions, most results were in the 5-8% range. |

| Nationally: Our groups of councillors in Brighton and Lancaster now number 12 each. We have made 17 gains in all, with the most spectacular being the increase of the Brighton group from 6 to 12. |
||
Kent status of Labour and Liberal Democrats after the elections Both of these parties suffered serious losses in Kent, although there were some minor Lib Dem gains in Ashford and Canterbury. Labour were wiped out in Shepway, Tonbridge and Malling and Tunbridge Wells. The Lib Dems, after securing a majority
in Shepway in 2003, then split, lost control and were reduced to 10 seats
in these elections. Overall, the results do suggest a Conservative wipeout
of the Labour seats in the next general election: even the strongest
Labour seat in Kent, Dover, could fall. There are no Lib Dem winnable
marginals and they do not hold any parliamentary seats in Kent. |
